Dr. Lakhankar was invited to present on \u201cSatellite Remote Sensing Application in Hydrological Monitoring and Modeling\u201d at the Inception Workshop-Runoff Scenario and Water-Based Adaptation Strategies in South Asia. During the workshop, he met with several scientists from Global Change Impact Studies Center (GCISC), Pakistan, Center of Environment and Geographic Information Services (GECIS), Bangladesh, Department of Environment (DoE), Bangladesh, Andhra University (AU), India, and East West Center (EWC) to discuss possible collaborative research proposal ideas for Nepal, Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India regions. This workshop provided a platform for experts from different countries to come together, share their knowledge and experiences, and discuss innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change and its impact on water resources and livelihoods.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Consultative Meetings with Stakeholders:
Dr. Lakhankar conducted consultative meetings with stakeholders, including the Department of Livestock Services, Agriculture, Forest, and District Development Officials at the national and district levels, local NGOs, and other USAID implementers in Kathmandu and selected districts. The aim of these meetings was to discuss local livestock and agriculture issues due to changing climate and steps to be taken for mitigation, adaptation, and building economic opportunities. These meetings provided an opportunity for Dr. Lakhankar to engage with stakeholders and understand their perspectives, concerns, and needs, and develop research and outreach activities accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Meeting with Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM):
Dr. Lakhankar also met with the Director General of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology (DHM) to discuss possible collaboration for real-time local hydrological and meteorological data sharing with CRSP project partners. This collaboration would help to improve the quality and accuracy of hydrological and meteorological data, and enhance the capacity of local stakeholders to manage water resources effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SOHAM Conference:
Dr. Lakhankar attended and presented at the SOHAM Conference held on November 27-28, 2013. He presented preliminary research on satellite-based precipitation products developed for the Nepal region. Ajay Jha, another renowned scientist, presented on \u201cAdaptation to Climate Change and Resilient Rural Livelihood in Nepal.\u201d The conference provided a platform for experts from different fields to come together, share their research findings, and discuss innovative solutions to address the challenges posed by climate change and its impact on agriculture, forestry, and the environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Asian Institute of Technology & Management Nepal (AITM Nepal):
Dr. Lakhankar also presented on \u201cSatellite Remote Sensing Application in Hydrological Monitoring and Modeling\u201d at The Asian Institute of Technology & Management Nepal (AITM Nepal). During the meeting, Dr. Lakhankar and Prof. Shana Gillette met with Mr. Pramod Pradhan, Dr. Vishnu Prasad Pandey, and other faculties and management teams of AITM to discuss collaborative research and educational activities in Nepal. This meeting provided an opportunity for Dr. Lakhankar and Prof. Gillette to engage with local stakeholders, understand their perspectives and needs, and develop research and outreach activities accordingly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
